Dobu.................HUH?

Well we have began our Dobu sessions. I know you are wondering what is Dobu. It is the practical part of our culture and language acquisition class. Dobu is the name of the people group on whom we are practicing our language and culture acquiring techniques. It is really just the staff dressed up as "Dobu" people set in a replica village (which is pretty cool) here on campus. Yesterday was our first session with a Dobu man. We are split into small groups (4-6) and go to meet and talk with a Dobu man (called a helper) who is helping us to learn the culture and some language. We are being evaluated as if we were really on the field. They expect us to begin understanding the Dobu people and begin picking up some common phrases. By the way Dobu is a real people group so it is not as fictional as it sounds. We will try to post some pictures and other things as we move through the class. It will last until the second week of October. Here is a picture of our Dobu helper, we call him Gosiana (go-see-on-uh).
